Establishing a healthy communication between your mind and your body can be challenging, and you do not have to do it alone. We aim to meet you where you are - whether you are seeking support for the very first time or if you need continuation of support after completing previous eating disorder treatment. We provide a safe, non-judgmental collaborative space in which we support you through discomfort, celebrate your progress, and talk through emotions or experiences you are faced with.

Individualized meal planning to establish a consistent, adequate eating pattern tailored to your specific needs

Establishing connection to your body's needs, including honoring hunger and fullness cues

Collaboration with members of your treatment team including therapist, physician, loved ones (if supportive)

Rewriting your inner dialogue by challenging beliefs and myths about weight, food, and health

Developing self-care and coping skills to navigate challenges around food and body image

We are in network with select Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Unfortunately, we cannot accept Blue Value, Blue Home, Blue Local, or Aetna Duke plans. Before our initial session, we ask clients to verify their insurance plan's coverage for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). We understand it can be tough to know all the questions to ask, so we have a cheat sheet for you here.

As of January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to provide estimates for the costs of your care when paying out of pocket for services. The Good Faith Estimate shows the cost of items and services that are reasonably expected for your healthcare needs and treatment. This will be provided by this office upon scheduling and/or as requested. This Good Faith Estimate does not include unexpected costs that could arise during treatment.

Redefined stories

With nutrition therapy, I have learned to love myself for me. I no longer look to a number for validation. I give myself permission to enjoy life and that might mean eating foods I enjoy and exercising less.

I leave nutrition sessions feeling good about myself and knowing that with each session I learn to love myself a little more.

frequently asked questions

let's Answer some

Yes, we are currently in network with select Aetna and BCBS plans. Coverage will vary with individual plans and we cannot accept Blue Local, Blue Home, Blue Value, or Aetna Duke plans. We encourage clients to verify their insurance eligibility and coverage for outpatient nutrition counseling before we begin our work together. We've provided a step-by-step guide for you to use when calling your insurance provider linked here. If we are not in-network with your insurance provider, we are happy to provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement. Please note that this superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.

If this your first experience working with a non-diet, weight inclusive registered dietitian, welcome! We are dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space that is accepting of  all bodies, abilities, genders, races, ethnicities, and life circumstances. Typically, our sessions may begin with a check-in on any goals we set in the previous session, reviewing food journals (if applicable), or answering questions or concerns that came up between sessions. We may then transition into discussing  challenges, developing tools for effective coping, unlearning diet myths, and more. You're in the driver's seat during our time together and we want to focus on what feels most important to you.

The duration of our work together can depend on a variety of factors, but typically, our work with clients is therapeutic and long term as unlearning years of messages from diet culture can take work and time. We often meet on a weekly basis and adjust the frequency of your visits as you progress. You and your dietitian will discuss a treatment plan that is supportive of your goals. Our overall goal is for you to no longer need our support to maintain a peaceful relationship with food and your body.

First, we want to extend compassion to you. You are not alone with having the desire to lose weight. Diet culture is prevalent - it instills fatphobia and praises achieving the thin ideal at all costs. While we don't offer weight loss, we are not anti-dieters or against individuals that want to lose weight. We can hold space for your desire to lose weight and process how this impacts your eating patterns, movement, and physical and emotional well-being. We may encourage you to connect with a licensed HAES®-aligned therapist for deeper work with beliefs about your body.

Health at Every Size® principles "help us advance social justice, create an inclusive and respectful community, and support people of all sizes in finding compassionate ways to take care of themselves." HAES® is an inclusive movement, recognizing that our social characteristics, such as our size, race, national origin, sexuality, gender, disability status, and other attributes, are assets, and acknowledges and challenges the structural and systemic forces that impinge on living well.

Yes! We offer virtual sessions and we are able to work with individuals anywhere in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland. We may also be able to work with you if you are out of state, but this will vary depending on your state's nutrition licensure laws regarding medical nutrition therapy (MNT). Contact us if you have any questions. regarding your state's laws.
